Let me start by introducing my self, Hi I'm Gera Louise Labaniego and I'm currently doing an internship here at Martin-Hudson & Gibson Ltd.. I can't even remember when I started (about a good few weeks ago) but it feels like I've been here for so long and it's like home now.

(No. This is not the future house)

Oddly enough, John Gibson got back to me the week I started drawing a plan of my future house (NO KIDDING, IT'S ALL COINCIDENCE!). Anyways, I can remember looking back to my very first day when I had to sign for a number of deliveries that arrived that day... oh my horrible writing had to be used, not to mention using stylus things which made it worse.

I'm an open blank book ready to be filled with knowledge and ideas.

It mightn't make sense that I'm doing this interior design internship when I'm actually doing Media Production in college. Well here's a little story, I got a place in Griffith College Dublin in an interior design course... but the sad thing is I can't afford it. Despite of that, I was lucky enough to find the ad for this internship online while job hunting (... hours and hours of it).

I am very passionate about art but never really got a chance to improve nor use it in some way I could benefit from it. Back in secondary school, I was kicked out (I wasn't even in the class haha) of the art class in first year since I wasn't put in that class. Yes I fought for my right to be in it but lost since they could only take up to 24 students (*very very very sad face). It was annoying that some people hated art class and yet they got it while there I was trying to get in it.

Back to the internship (apologies for drifting off the topic, I just still can't get over that), it has taught me a lot of things. A lot of people who's been a client of John's and his father, come back even after years... decades too!

I have learnt a lot about wallpapers, fabrics and why the Ralph Lauren brand is very expensive. Quality of both products and services are the key to this industry in my opinion. It doesn't matter how expensive something is, as long as its going to last you long that you wouldn't even think that it was so dear when you got it.

(At least Carlton can afford it!)
